Happy New Year’s! Bring It On 2019!

Happy New Year’s! Did you all make it to midnight? We signed up for the New York New Year’s at our Yacht Club, but didn’t even make it to that time! Two out of the four of us at least – Carter and I stayed up until …. who knows what time?!?!?! It was past 9pm for sure. Woo Hoo! Things sure do change when you have kids….

While we were at dinner, Tyler asked me what my best moments of 2018 were. I definitely had a good list of great things, but one thing that it was lacking, was anything about myself on my own. If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you probably saw my post about my #bestnine2018 . It was a tough one to write because I’m not much of a feelings type of person, however, it did open up my eyes to make me realize that I need to take care of myself a lot more!

With a new year, I like to make intentions over resolutions. I don’t know if it really makes a difference but whatever, it tricks my brain into it – Longer than a resolution at least. So with that said, my intention for 2019 is (drum roll please) ……… SELF-CARE!

My whole life, I’ve always taken care of others better or more than myself. It’s the mama bear in me (hence the nickname “Mama Bear” in college). It’s time to change that up a bit and take care of myself. Now it’s not like I’m just dropping everyone else and saying “Bye Felicia,” but I can’t be a good mom, wife, person, or whatever, unless I’m taking care of myself as well. It’s going to be a little more like Mom Break daily, without leaving everyone. It’s going to involve all aspects of my life – physically and mentally. I’ll get into it a little more over the next couple of weeks because I still have a lot to figure out with it myself. I just wanted to get it out there and make it real for now.

I hope you all had a great New Year’s and set some resolutions or intentions for yourself. I’d love to hear what they were in the comments below.

  1. A revelation that you matter and count also. It is important to take the time to refill.❤️

    1. It definitely is so important. I never really thought it about it before. It finally caught up to me. And… thanks for reading and following my blog!
