Suja 3 Day Juice Cleanse Review

HAPPY NEW YEAR! First post of the year, and on a high note as well. If you follow me on Instagram and saw my stories, then you probably saw that this year, my goal/intention/word however you want to put it, is Health. All aspects of it – mental, physical, relationship, work/life, personal. So to kick it off, I did a 3 day juice cleanse to detox my gut from the holiday feast. I was looking into the Suja Juice cleanse, so I was so excited when I did my bi-weekly (yes bi-weekly… only sometimes…) Costco shopping trip and saw that the cleanse was only $19.00!

How it works

***Let’s get this legal stuff out of the way – I was not asked, gifted, or paid to post about this, and as always, all opinions and thoughts are my own.***

So I was quite shocked to find out that you can have FOOD with the cleanse. I think that helped soooo much because this girl loves her food. The cleanse comes with 9 drinks, which breaks down to 3 per day. You start your morning with the Lemon Cayenne Juice, then you’re allowed a breakfast, then a snack. After that, you have the Berry Protein drink, then a lunch, and another snack. After that, you’re on to your last drink, which is Trim Greens, and then your dinner. The box also comes with a pamphlet that includes a daily schedule you can customize to work for you. There’s also recipes for the Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Snacks. To make it even easier, there’s also a grocery shopping list for everything that’s in the recipes. As always, check with the good ole doc to make sure you’re in tip top shape to do this.

Day 1

I’m a serious coffee drinker, so I was nervous about giving up the caffeine. The Lemon Cayenne drink surprisingly enough gave me a little pep in my step, and turned out to be my favorite of the 3. I ended up breaking down and had 1/2 a cup of coffee, and then forgot to eat my breakfast and my snack. I wasn’t completely starving so I just ended up having the Berry Protein and a small salad. I didn’t have the salad that was in the pamphlet, but it was loaded with veggies. After that, I wasn’t feeling hungry at all so I didn’t have the snack either. So on to the Trim Greens… GROSS! I thought it would be okay because I have a similar Green drink that Suja makes every morning. Nope! Gross! Took it like a champ though and chugged the whole thing. As for dinner? Lentils aren’t quite my thing, so I just had a bunch of roasted veggies.

My thoughts after day 1? Not too bad. I got this!

Day 2

I woke up quite excited for the Lemon Cayenne drink. Had that, and then broke down and had coffee again. I think only 1/4 of a cup this time. It was more for the caffeine headache then energy though (yes – it’s a thing). I forgot to have breakfast and the snack again, but I wasn’t feeling hungry at all. When lunch time came around, I cringed a little bit. The Berry Protein drink is alright, but the chalkiness of the protein really is not my thing. I still took it like a champ and chugged it. I went to Buffalo Wild Wings after a meeting, but only got a small salad, and no snack. Onto dinner time. I had the Trim Greens, and that’s when it all hit me. I realized I wasn’t drinking any water, and I was super craving regular food. not even junk, just meat really. I think this is when b*tch mode kicked in, lol.

My thoughts after day 2? I’m still going strong, but I like what I like.

Day 3

Yay! LAST DAY!!! Had my Lemon Cayenne drink, broke down and had a 1/4 cup of coffee, and some scrambled eggs with spinach (yeah yeah yeah – not the worst thing I could be eating). Had a glass of water, and skipped the snack. Still not feeling too hungry so I just waited for the Berry Protein. I struggled with this this time around. I don’t know why? Maybe because I just wanted a chicken salad or something. It ended up taking me about 15 minutes to drink it, and really filled me up. So you guess it – no salad or snack. Drank another glass of water and went on with my day. I was super stoked when it was time for drink 3 because, HELLO?!?!?! Last drink of the cleanse forever! I had the drink, then said, “Screw it!” and had a chicken thigh or 2. Don’t worry, I made it in the air fryer and there wasn’t anything unhealthy in it.

My thoughts after day 3? This wasn’t too bad. I would do it again.

Overall thoughts

This is totally doable and really not as bad as I thought it would be. On day 3, I did get a little shaky, but that’s probably because I should’ve been drinking a lot more water and eating what was recommended. I wasn’t going into this to lose weight, but I did drop 3 lbs, I had more energy, and my gut felt clean. I would definitely do this again to reset my body anytime I feel like I’ve overindulged, and you know what? I challenged myself to something I thought I would never do or follow through with, and I’m totally proud of myself for doing it. I think I’m headed in the right direction.

Your turn

Have you ever done a juice cleanse? What was your experience and thoughts on the whole process?
