5 Beauty Tricks Learned Along the Way
Well hello my good friends! Today I’m mixing things up and going all beauty on you. Now when you think of beauty, make-up, and style – I may not be the first person you think of, but you might want to change your thinking on that a bit. Little do you know, I pay a lot of attention to the tips I’m given or randomly hear, and I’m always up for anything that saves me time or money. So since I’m such a nice person and love to share my wealth of knowledge, I am blessing you with my beauty…knowledge! I’m a little nutty and all about things in chronological order, so I’ll trick you out on these tips from morning to night.
Oh. And about that picture up there. That was my half assed attempt of dressing up for a Woodstock themed party. What do you think? lol.
#1: COLD WATER
Whether you’re a shower in the morning, before you go to bed, or I shower when I shower type of person – ALWAYS end with a cold splash. It’s gives your hair a great shine, and it closes up your pores. Don’t just save it for the shower though – anytime I wash my face, I end with a cold splash before I dry my face off.
#2: CHAFFING RELIEF POWDER GEL
So don’t knock this one until you try it. I usually use this trick when I’m actually needing to look decent and take pictures. This little miracle in a tube is Monistat 7 Chafing Relief Powder Gel. It’s the softest formula that works miracles in a couple of ways. The number one way I use it, is to smooth my skin out before foundation. Ever heard of those high end Photo Finish Foundation Primers or Pore and Fine Line Minimizers? Well this works the same exact way and is UNDER $10!!!
If you’re not blessed with, or not all about the “thigh gap,” then this will be your best friend in the summer months! I don’t know about you, but that thigh rub when I’m wearing a skirt, dress, shorts, or whatever that requires skin to skin on my thighs, is not best feeling. Rub some of this gel on there and it acts as a barrier
#3: TOILET SEAT COVER
Here’s another one you shouldn’t knock until you try. I mean Sarah Jessica Parker her self was the one who introduced this to me. When blotting papers started becoming a huge thing, SJP herself went on Oprah and said that she uses toilet seat covers to blot the oil off of her face. So when you’re in a crunch and you don’t have any powder or blotting paper with you, grab a toilet seat cover and blot away.
#4: BAKING SODA
When my skin is feeling dull, I create a paste with baking soda and water. I start off by splashing my face with warm water to open my pores, then I just rub the paste all over my face, being very gentle around the eyes, they rinse off with cold water. I like to do this at night so that my skin has to recover from the scrub. This is a trick I remember reading from a Lauren Conrad post, back in her The Beauty Department days.
#5: HYDROGEN PEROXIDE
Why what white teeth you have my dear… well that’s because I rinse with Hydrogen Peroxide. You should definitely check with your dentist before you do this, but mine said to do a 3-1 mixture. 3 parts water to 1 part Hydrogen Peroxide. I went a little crazy at first and went full Hydro, then my dentist gave me the look of disapproval. I start off by brushing my teeth as usual, then finish off by gargling with the Hydrogen Peroxide mix. I gargle for about 15-30 seconds then rinse again with plain water. For those that are wondering about taste – there really isn’t one. I’d say do this about 2-3 times per week and just gauge it because it can make your gums and teeth pretty sensitive. If that’s the case, you should brush with a toothpaste for sensitive teeth.
That’s all I have for you today. Hope you found it useful and be sure to follow me on Instagram, share with your family and friends, and #SSAMbeauty so I can see your efforts and results. Comment below with any other beauty tips or tricks you’ve learned along the way.
